Lost in Udine 5: Diary of a 'antipasti' in the FEFF

Day 4. Monday, 02 May: The effect Quark
Hello, cineasiáticos. The difficult part of the Monday, as you know, is that the body remains attached to the habit acquired over Saturday and Sunday, and cling to the sheets like a lost soul. Even so, the Festival of Udine possessed a good antidote: schedule of the films tribute to Michael Hui at eleven o'clock. Result: The auditorium of the Teatro Nuovo was to the flag, including the Hong Kong comedian, decked out in white from head to toe.

We must confess that one of the great successes of this year FEEF is a retrospective Asia laughs, as a tribute to one of the comedy geniuses of Hong Kong, and by extension in Asia. Michael Hui as an amateur more of which come together these days in Udine, is enjoying and doing have respect to the public around him. Chiken and Duk Talk is a hilarious example of what can be seen one of his films. So you can give it a film set in a restaurat (you can imagine cockroaches in the soup bowls, rats running up and down), the film was a gift given to an audience from the moment that Michael Hui aco made appearance.

Quark would effect early in the afternoon. Just as Cannes has Brillante Mendoza or Raya Martin as the new champions of Philippine cinema, the FEFF friendship began years ago with Erik Matti ( Gagagmboy or Exodus), and Quark Henares ( Keka , Super Noypi ). Directors are much closer to popular taste. This year it was the turn to the second one, His film Rakenrol (2011) presented the world premiere, it becomes what the Almost Famous Cameron Crowe of but set among rock bands and pinoy urban culture, a film, which only fails on the footage (one hour and a half would have sufficed), but is full of very funny moments (some of them remind us of Scott Piligrim ), contrasted with a final maturity, which says a lot of knowledge of the director for the art world and in this case music.

Certainly better than his humility, referring to his movies. When I approached in the lobby of the Teatro Nuovo to tell you the impressions of his films, he was blown away that we knew Keka (his favorite film) or Super Noypi (which had no hesitation in saying, "but if it is ... garbage. ") This was the effect Quark.

Intermediate gourmet cuisine: Before deciding if we stayed a night session of FEFF our way through the most famous pizzeria in the area, the unique "Pizzeria Quadrifoglhio" caused our stomachs in solidarity with the rest of the body and decide to make a stop on the road. While listening to the Italian league on the radio, realized a stratospheric pizzas. Evidently taking a tiramisu was beyond our means. Instead, change it to a digestive pill.

Finally left the Hong Kong Movie Lovers Discourse (Derek Tsang & Jimmy Wan , 2011). Produced by Pang Ho-cheung and directed by the son of Eric Tsang , the film is one of the great surprises that we had prepared FEFF. An ensemble film that will thrill you, where you shall laugh, staring at a canvas on which several love stories intertwine. Beautiful film, with stunning photography. Perseguidla!
