Tania ...

Being the last of the menu, can I touch digest them all?

The curator, Cuauhtemoc Medina (Mexico City 1965), Cannibal Domino presented as a new exhibition format in which, for a period of twelve months the Board Veronicas host the work of seven artists. From Jimmie Durham (Domino Cannibal who opened last January 22, 2010), six other artists have made their own specific action taken as a starting point the work done by the previous. With Francis Alÿs, Cannibal Domino opens the last of his plays. DOMINO

What Does 1st Period Look Like

Best estimates ... I do not write too ago, but today is a reason enough to write.

Rodmy I traveled with my friend to Mexico, the island of Cozumel with one goal in mind: to finish the Ironman Cozumel that would on 28 November this year.

Flights to Cancun Panama to more or less, except a little hard landings, but fine. After waiting too long for the luggage in the aerropuerto, take a van to Playa del Carmen, a place from which you buy the ticket and embarks on a ferry to the island of Cozumel.

We reached the island on Thursday afternoon, after starting the trip at the airport in Quito at 4:30 in the morning. I was tired and a little worried about feeling cold, but the goal would be the race on Sunday. A record number of career and get the chip. Now all was to meet Sunday at "The Beast ".... nothing more than an Ironman.

Ironman triathlon is emblematic of ultra distance in the world, whose distances are 3.8Km swim, 180 km cycling and 42.2 km footrace for a total of 226Km of travel within a limit of 17 hours. It is the pinnacle of ultra distance. The run

very cautious with food, with warm, with water proof, the assembly of the bicycle. And when it was late afternoon when handing the bike in the park Chaakanab, instead of that we would begin the swim and would take the bike. Also we had to leave bags of T1 (swim-bike transition) and T2 (bike-trot transition.) Bike left list, with the correct pressure tires, parts in the back seat, revised for errors and gels and glued to the table for the next day. One last look at the place of swimming, turquoise waters and the encirclement of dolphins jumping and doing somersaults, back to the hotel.

no sleep the night before, with the nerves to the surface with my traveling companion and novice Ironman. Do not know what to expect, we attacked one after the other questions and doubts about the next day.

sounded the alarm and was on D. Which time there was no going back no more to do. A shower, get dressed competition, a sweater, the sandwiches pedyalite armed with a special Need for the 97 Km bike and 21 of the trot. A breakfast, a nutritious breakfast but measured and that tell us that the last bus starts charging people. Putting in a whole wheat bread and scrambled eggs run the bus (by the way heat, lol). Recent board posts sitting and start address.

Check that the bike is in perfect condition, the tires have the expected air pressure, which are the parts in the event of a puncture, leaving the extra clothes in the closet and towards the water, through the marking of the body with the number of competitor. Walking along the pier and into the water, perfect temperature to be banned wetsuit. Clear water, nice place to start swimming.

was the moment of truth, there was nothing else to do but wait for the start, a sea of competitors ready to face the journey and themselves, to be iron or break on the road. Sounded the game and all that floated in the clear water of Chankanaab coral reef off we went. Aim straight ahead orange buoy which would turn one counter and crowded around.

Before reaching the first buoy I got a kick in the face and swimming goggles that stuns me a bit and damaged something in the nose piece of the glasses begin to leak everywhere. The salt water-filled lenses are no longer clear, burning eyes, but I to bend at the buoy and try to see the next buoy. Saw very little, everything was blurry and my eyes were burning a lot. A stop and adjust the glasses, fix a little piece of the nose and to better align the glasses for less water. To keep swimming, turning buoys, stopping once to remove water that slowly seeps into the glasses. Reach the submarine and a twist, now just flip up the stairs where they end the 3800m swim. One more stop to evacuate water starting to overrun in the lenses of swimming and swimming upstream, going zigzag line with the current against us and ended up swimming.

The sensations were good, the sun was with us since the beginning of alzandose swimming was entirely on a blue sky, it was hot and the humidity was strong. I made the transition bag 2133 (my competitor number) and get the shirt that would make cycling and jogging, helmet and sunglasses. Apply lots of sunscreen and for the bike. Cadillac was there my beautiful, lonely road bike from last generation TT so faithfully and with shoes stuck with their clips. We had to push to the line of ascent to the bike, gain momentum and jumped on the bike to be sufficiently slow to move forward and find one at a shoe buckle set Velkro and cycling.

60km circuit, roughly, strong. An endless plain, no ups and no downs, no option to rest my legs a bit to getting more than halfway crosswind along the eastern side of the island. We landscapes, crashing waves of the sea, Mayan ruins, tropical vegetation, but a stifling humidity. The first round goes well, very good feeling, very hydrating, wetting a lot of head and back to hydrate and refresh the skin. Second round and as usual, it starts to annoy the ever levantarsee no seat, but not much more to do with cycling. People are totally nice, very excited about supporting the athletes ... screaming, clapping, placing speakers to the path ... in short, enjoying the feast of Ironman. Km 97 and get the bag special need: a sandwich that has more nutritional value than giving emocioanl ham, cheese and butter that taste of glory and a moisturizing pedyalite more than gatorade. Last lap on the bike and the pulse must be exactly where to go for your last posts of supply of the bike, hydrate your best and wear sunscreen, all non-stop pedaling.

ends in the town bike path, people excited to see so mad compete and we left the bikes and we go for running shoes. For the transition under the bike without shoes and left them locked in the clips, give the "Caddy" one of the many volunteers who ensured that the event will look and other red handed me my bag of T2. Entered the tent and put on socks, stockings pressure and jogging shoes, leave the helmet in the bag and took the visor to the trot, one last time in transition to put on more sunscreen and for my first marathon.

The marathon consisted of "only" three laps of 14 km from the center and north of the island, before the whole town and away, going towards the airport to the hotel Meliá 7km north of the island. The first 14 km at a normal pace, trotting all the time, good feelings and the exact keystrokes that should point at the trot. Pushing my mind to go, and I realize that the coach was right, the Km 10 of trot the start of the Ironman. Everything starts to hurt, to ask why her head is there. The reason for enduring so much suffering in the race if sitting the same time angry and hurt. Voliva determination is crucial, the head just thinking about coming, to break all bounds and become a finisher personal. FINISHER OR DEATH.

to face the second round and go jogging with more heart and will that leg. The legs and stuck, and came to the half marathon, 205Km of suffering had already passed, I could not give up or falter now that I was missing the 10th part in km (only 21) but how hard the competition in trot. I started walking, feeling that everything is slow, but that desire more. Jogging and walking, mixing both disciplines to spend less time, but to withstand the abuse that my body was undergoing. I was thinking how much I had in getting there, even in what happened if I had to crawl to try to reach.

mind perversely played with me, did you fly in thought but could the determination. Will power makes a finisher. I started the last lap on a paved foot ugly, even though pretty to the eye because a bird in the driveway. I separated and less than 14km from the finish line. Night had already fallen and the weather was good, not cold, warm moisture allowed the tank top is comfortable enough. Each check point to take gatorade, water, coca cola ... nibble a little peanut or prezels, oranges and bananas to keep fuel. The last 7km

thought only to arrive, forcing me to trot even when the pulse had fallen and did not want to go jogging again, at a good pace. It got to the dock and the city, a beautiful place that has the island with cruise ship docked in the port ... were now only two thousand meters to the finish line. I was filled with feeling of knowing that he was to achieve greater personal achievement he had faced, took from the pockets of his jersey without Sleeveless my two flags, the tricolor from Ecuador and my Jolly Rogers, the pirate flag that always accompanied me. Sheltered myself with the two banners bearing and jogged the last mile, people are encouraged and harangued ... children stretched out their hands to collide with mine. A group of women shouted: "We are truly iron."

E U-turn rather than for returning was my turn to enter the site reserved for those who We ended, encouraging crowded bleachers, a giant screen where I saw the speakers arrived and an animator who announced: " Gandhi Ecuador Vela, and remember that now you are a IRONMAN !!!". All worth it, the last 2km of 226 thousand meters of suffering were worth totally worth it. Finisher crossed the line, even with a bad time, but I broke something that is monumental to the standards of which we like ultra long distances.

am the captain of my destiny, and will fly all the time with the aim of finisher and I did, not the best preparation but with a lot of heart and willpower.

This first experience really showed me that "Impossible is Nothing" and I will face the same forces that I come along. An Ironman is like life, long and hard, with parts that we like more than others, but always worth it go and fight.

I hope they have a great time and I photos, which hang when I send them to the organization. A hug

How Much To Weave Extensions Cost

Cabildo Open Art.

In its sixth year, Art Week Rosario joins the Bicentenary celebrations and unfolds in two stages. The first part, which took place in May this year, was the convening of a historic Art Town Meeting, which was attended and made presentations regarding the various national art scenes, thus forming a snapshot of the current state of the art in our country. In the second stage, given the quality of the presentations, we decided to translate them into a publication to launch a new collection of editions Castagnino + macro dedicated to the theory and art criticism.

Thus, a fundamental part of this 6SAR/10, the publication presents the Open Meeting of Art, historical edition which rescues all the presentations that were delivered during the conference, to be a single document that provides an overview of different views on the current national artistic field, told in words of references and undisputed protagonists.

The presentation ceremony is conducted under the traditional Bar Cairo on Friday November 19, 2010 with the presence of provincial authorities, municipal managers of institutions and members of the artistic community .. Also present were representatives of the various locations Santa Fe participants of previous editions of Art Week which, in turn, relate their experiences in a special chapter of this publication .

also the Director of the Museum Castagnino + macro with the editorial board publicly announced new guidelines to be implemented during 2011, regarding the collection and the launch of new editorial proposals.

Those interested can access the digital version publication on the website of Arts Week. Http://www.semanadelarte.org.ar/

TUÑÓN JOSE LUIS: "The value of art." Paula

SEMINAR "THE VALUE OF ART"

ART WORKSHOP Rada Tilly (Chubut)

LAST MEETING
JOSE LUIS TUÑÓN *
joseluistunon . blogspot.com
http://boladenieve.org.ar/node/8014

What value is asked to art? Case of the last meeting and it must be said: it is a rare value that never finds its measure. A value of arguably worthless. But how? If every so often sell some paintings at exceptional prices? That's right: exceptional. Underscore the exception, which is what he is capable of being reduced to a common measure. These figures border on the free, never clear on which they rest. Sometimes it seems to be the quality of the work, others, the artist's career or his genius, but are only the data needed for that operation does not fall into utter nonsense. To avoid this device is built to assess mentioned at the beginning of the seminar. Apparatus made of museums, galleries, critics and curators to maintain the value of the works, anthology, discoveries, reinterpretations, and tributes to the classics. This weapon that certainty in the value we call art history.

seeks to sustain that value is - paradoxical - Whose function is to prevent its value is set, while keeping open its size. Otherwise the whole system would be fixed, collapsing the exchanges that rely on it. That is, almost everyone. The trade would be based on the notion of maintenance and reemplazararíamos things they no longer fulfill the functions - utility - for which they were created. Which support the role of novelty and value, would be angry and disappointed and would have to redefine the goals, progress and the very notion of change that relies entirely on the dichotomy of old / new.

Why anyone would want to divest an asset that appreciates, or still find it useful?

The controversy between art that sought to refine the taste, but putting his courage and his art that sought to spread to as many people.

And is not the only contradiction, there are others so foundational as this: that cutting it sought to establish the value and taste of the nation itself. And it promoted an art that emphasizes the values suited to the taste. The identity for example. But, and here is the paradox, for it is had to resort to forms of non-nationals, are universal, though a nation was considered valuable only if it could be established with them. Paradox: the universal and local, another key we have covered in these meetings.

And more: for example, which seeks to define the national and cultural value, ie as taste worship, while distinguishing the uneducated. National and religious value that opposes the national uneducated. Sarmiento barbarism. Barbarie value recovered later as popular, populist movements, which did not require worship artists to define their tastes. And hovering above all this, the market, turning in their endless spare led by the nose of taste, a modeling taste quite different ways. Because once broken the major forms of taste, this is dispersed in a crazy process where the forms are replaced each other in all directions. Refined than the vulgar, exclusive than the massive, from the intimate to the public, to the obscene chaste, honest as the corrupt. Any of these variables can be combined in the formula of taste that is desperately seeking to keep open that value paradox.

Art is no longer enough to drive this process, neither national or local, or even universal, in the drive unleashed, is insufficient. The same mass of questionable media are able to keep the gap open curiosity and appetite. We usually turn on the TV waiting for the next stupidity that will be put on camera by the unscrupulous in power. And then there is perhaps a return to pastoral tastes like crave millennia. Or the medieval incommunicado, as doomsayers predicted. A universal market stabilized by a liberal democracy - even universal - it's very hard to believe. Especially for those who seek the renewal of love for guns and narcotics, for whom the value is a settled matter.

But what does this have to do with the value of art?! Has .. has, because I remember, the complaint that led to the seminar, said that no one worth anything (you can see the number 371, the magazine Ñ, in the letters section of reader is a verbatim record of the complaint) and the role art and the artist is uncertain. And it's true. Although the figures for museums. But is not pessimism, it's just revision of its role. Its potential is maintained. Be on the show, where art is still capable of summoning crowds, or in the field of intimacy, or communal, or familial, or whatever. The role of art and its value are being redefined. Not that is bad or good happens, and we accept it as the first, the easier it will be change.

My name is Jose Luis Tunon and was born in Rio Gallegos in 1955. I live in Comodoro Rivadavia in 1984 where he worked as an artist and psychoanalyst. I did my initial training in La Plata in both disciplines. Then, these two practices were far apart, are now two ways that allow me to understand the culture and the discursive field that shapes the ways of enjoyment.

As background I quote the different opportunities that the Antorchas Foundation supported my work. And as a turning point, my participation in the Days of Contemporary Art Criticism and General Roca. I exhibit regularly individually, but more often in thematic exhibitions. I got some awards that I think are important and other times forgettable. I am thrilled to think critically about art as writing articles or lectures, most of which remain unpublished.

Call uselessness of art bothers me, what drives me to do that I particularly community interventions. The need to uphold the practice among several has led me to integrate more or less formalized organizations: Singing Seven, meeting of friends dedicated to the support and affection. Haw To Be In Tech Deck Live

secret drawings of Francis Bacon, through the eyes of Sosa Horacio Cordero, a close friend of the artist. CYCLE

"One day that will make history" - This could be defined the conference organized on 21 October by Argentina Cultural Industries and the Comptroller General's Office, where for one week, forty of the drawings exhibit extraordinary Christian Collection Ravarino, "La Punta del Iceberg" curated by Edward Lucie-Smith and Massimo Scaringella . This collection, whose authenticity-and supported-has been questioned for more than ten years, consists of drawing independent, intense and essential, true works of art that are an inner reflection, a look back performing on one's own Francis Bacon, which is almost the last stage.

But what is unique about this day is not just the fact that we may discover little-known drawings, or that is being given in first in Buenos Aires and throughout Latin America. What makes it unique is that we walked through the eyes of those who was one of the great friends of Bacon, one of the few to the painter "counted on the fingers of one hand" ... the friend with whom he shared anecdotes , partying, art, moods, life and even the friend who called to identify his body lifeless on a night in 1992, Madrid. It is, ultimately, the writer, painter and sculptor of international fame Horacio Sosa Cordero.

conversation with Horacio Sosa Cordero

"By pure chance, I came face to face with my friend talking from their strokes, from a previously unknown work for me and finally came to light, it deserves is in the best museums in the world to the delight of all. " Sosa Cordero said. After examining each, we offered to give a talk about it, gradually deepening the work, personality and friendship that joined Francis Bacon for forty years. It is he who takes us inside, then the life of one of the most brilliant artists of the century XX. He, along with Francis Bacon, were those who made this day a day "most historic" .

conversation with Horacio Sosa Cordero

You, Horacio Sosa Cordero, was a close friend of Francis Bacon, the proof is, the portraits he made of you. How did this friendship? And how would you describe Bacon?

A Francis I met him in the 60's, as a young artist living in London. We had a mutual friend, David Sylvester, and so began a great friendship.

What was Bacon? He was a puzzling, unpredictable, charisma ... but also very bad temper, especially when asking him questions he did not like. For example, you could not talk about painting, although the great whom he admired, Velazquez, Picasso or our good friend Alberto Giacometti. Anyway, it was puzzling, unsociable, irritable, representing all points: it could make a scene before the Queen of England or be a true gentleman of a vagabond. And above all, was a close friend of his friends. Now that I look at this late self-portrait of his, made in 1980, I remember I once asked: "Why always so many self-portraits, Francis?". And he answered: "And ... what do you want? No I have many people to paint, I know many people. Furthermore, with this face pudding-face that I have ... so I get. "

The attribution of the drawings in this exhibition of Francis Bacon has been the subject of controversy for more than ten years, especially following the acceptance general that "Bacon painted only, not draw. " What is your opinion?

First of all, it is not an opinion. And I can not speak of "attributing" the drawings to Bacon, as an "attribution" implies that one is not sure. And here, "and this is a fact we are dealing with authentic drawings of Bacon, and that's not debatable, nor is arguably the fact that he himself drew.

The great confusion about their drawings the artist created, Michael Ayrton who wrote a note Burlington Magazine Review of Art, which states that "Bacon could not draw.", It said one critic, a mediocre artist. Therefore, one day, Bacon is this street artist, and very angry, scolds him, saying: "And you do know if I draw?".

drawing course, only most of the time were stored in folders (could not teach them all a commitment I had with some commercial galleries), or broke and left abandoned in their "brothel" atelier in London. His studio: that place that I was privileged to attend almost daily, as people who visited him could count only on the fingers of one hand.

Turning to the drawings, Francis Bacon makes more than 300, you might call "drawings secrets "of Francis Bacon, as there are" secret drawings of Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo Buonarroti, or Caravaggio. And there are drawings that gives to his friends and lovers. And Ravarino, in this case, is the repository of all these drawings that Bacon drew, either in his studio in London or Bologna, Venice or elsewhere, in all those trips he made to Italy.

It is definitely an honor to watch this collection of Christian Ravarino these "drawings secrets' of his own. This is a sample that could be in any international museum like the Metropolitan Museum, the Tate Gallery or the Louvre. But today is here in Buenos Aires, becoming a first for Latin America.

"would highlight some of the drawings in the collection?

First of all, I should say that drawings are suddenly and rapidly implemented, and which affords a reflection in his works, a return to consistent themes: self-portraits and portraits of the crucifixion, the Popes ... De Indeed, the representation of Pope Innocent X after Velazquez, is a constant in the work of Francis Bacon, datándose his first painting about 1947. This drawing in particular, carried out between 70-80, is a masterpiece where you can see all consequences of his earlier paintings, as seen in the rest of the collection: the nervous character of its lines, strains, simple compositions, their atmospheres, the hint ... It reminds me of when asked about his painting, to he answered me: "Horace, my painting is, above all, in a game. And at the chance. And in pure intuition. The game, and chance, and how to capture the look with a sum of sensations. " Bacon's words.

could say that Bacon's work was steeped in irrational feelings in force contained in intuition, "fate", perhaps. But ... what about your life?

Francis Bacon was always surrounded by fate, as he said. All his best friends and lovers were dying one after another. And so it was falling, day after day, year after year, alone. Therefore, in his enigmatic life, he always said "I'm surrounded by death." I am one of the few friends left alive Bacon.

He loved life, casino, chat rooms, fine dining, drinking, partying, bars ... I remember, for example, the first trip he took to Madrid, which he did with me. "Horacio, take me to Spain." And there we were, because he loved bullfights. Then he was in London, Paris I, and we are right on Madrid. From then took the plane and traveled many times to Madrid, taking forever to visit the Prado and watch their favorite painters: Goya, Velazquez and Picasso, in his last trip, in 92, went to Madrid together with his friend John Edward to attend an extraordinary exhibition of Velazquez. But he had a heart attack and he was interned in a clinic ... And he was never practicing or stepped on a church, put it in the clinical care of two nuns .... Well, there it dies. John Edward phoned me to Paris, and traveled to Madrid to identify the body and fix all those things that need to be addressed in such circumstances, as unpleasant and sad, being a friend.

How would you rate this collection of drawings of Bacon? Why is it so important?

believe that these drawings are of vital importance for the art and will open new avenues for young artists. Not only are important for the quality and performance, but because they mark the last period of Francis Bacon, in which he made the drawings with great thought and courage by checking all your work done earlier. I will say a few words of Bacon, because Bacon painting, or drawing, which was made- was a game. I will answer with these words of Francis: "All art is now a sort of game in which the man is distracted. And it's always good to say so: quite a game. I think in that sense, things have changed, and what is really fascinating is that this game will be harder for the artist, it will need to further deepen the game to make it something good. " Bacon's words, which are a great lesson for new artists and art adventure, XXI century
